Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the Designer Buddy Chrome Extension ("Designer Buddy", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the extension. We understand the importance of your privacy and are committed to protecting it.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Designer Buddy does not collect or transmit any personal information or browsing data. Specifically:

  • We do not collect or access your browsing history.
  • We do not log or transmit any data about the websites you visit.
  • We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII).
  • We do not use cookies, tracking scripts, or analytics tools.

All processing takes place locally on your device and within your browser. The extension makes no network requests, and no data is sent to our servers or any third parties.

2. Permissions

Designer Buddy requests only the minimum necessary Chrome permissions required for its core functionality:

  • activeTab: Required to work with the tab you are currently inspecting when you click the extension.
  • scripting: Required to add the inspection overlay (bounding box, guide lines and tooltip) to the page, only when you press "Start inspecting".
  • storage: Used to save your bounding box color and your last selected element for each page, locally in your browser.
  • tabs: Needed to identify the active tab and to take a snapshot of the visible area so the extension can read the color of the pixel under your cursor.
  • host permissions (<all_urls>): Needed so you can inspect elements on any website you choose, and so the visible-area snapshot used for pixel colors works on that site.

These permissions are used solely to perform the intended inspection functionality and are not used for tracking or data collection.

3. Data Storage

Designer Buddy does not transmit or store data on any external servers. The following is stored locally in your browser's extension storage and remains on your device:

  • Your chosen bounding box color.
  • For each page where you select an element: the page address and the details of that element (locator, size, typography and colors). Only the 200 most recent pages are kept; older entries are deleted automatically.

Snapshots of the visible page used for pixel colors are kept in memory only while you are inspecting. They are never saved to disk or sent anywhere. Removing the extension deletes all of its stored data.

4. Third-Party Access

We do not share, sell, or disclose any data to third parties—because we do not collect any data to begin with. There are no third-party integrations, analytics platforms, or advertising networks used by this extension.

5. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page. Any future changes will continue to uphold our commitment to user privacy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
